It's always a mystery

My daughter's reflections project was in the kiln. She glazed it with the albany slip glaze. It came out looking like the shino glaze. I've made a few pieces and glazed them with shino and they came out looking like albany slip. I convinced myself that I had glazed them wrong. Now I know what is going on. I'm guessing in a few years I'll have more of an idea of what I'm going to get when I open the kiln. I know there will always be surprises (that's the great thing about pottery) but maybe I'll be able to make an educated guess by then.
